Hello, and thanks for coming to my little corner of the internet. I’m Annie. My husband
and I have a mini homestead in the woods of Maine and are doing our best to live
nourished and free.
Our two children were really the launching ground for a more simple, minimal, and
healthy lifestyle. Having children is so eye opening. Being able to provide them with a
strong foundation, filled with knowledge on how to care for themselves with the utmost
respect and love, naturally, and in a way that will help them to lead peaceful and
meaningful lives, is our biggest goal.
We have decided to homeschool our children, allowing them to naturally learn from their
environment. Our daughter has never had a curriculum, but has learned to write, and
read, and do math all on her own, with our guidance and support. There are so many
things that we do day to day that allow for the opportunity to learn and to be educated, it
just takes mindfulness and the ability slow down and just be, to harness this and, in
turn, bypass the “normal” society way.
Both my husband and I grew up in rural Maine, and that is where we are currently
spending our days. However, we plan to eventually take life on the road. I’m currently in
nursing school and when I graduate, we want to pack up our things and take a few
years exploring the United States and all the glory it has to offer.
It’s been a wild ride, so far. Between animals, gardening, healthy living, making (most)
of our own meals, home schooling, nursing school, my husband’s work schedule, and
the natural highs and lows of life that we all inevitably face, we are excited about this life
and its offerings, and navigating it with our family, close knit, set apart, and happy.
I plan on using this blog to share our journey. We all crave relatability – and the internet
is filled with things that make us question our identities. I’m here to show you that your
authentic self is perfect, and no, not everything in our lives is Instagram worthy or
something that you would find on Pinterest, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t something to
talk about! Simple living, minimalism, and living outside of the box can be hard to
navigate. I’m excited to share with you how we have done these things, without
compromising our comfort or spending money that we don’t have.
Welcome to my blog, where you will get to meet me, my family, and our true, authentic
selves. I hope you’ll follow along!
